First a few building notes:

In step 1 be sure to build mirror images of the two sides.  The recycling bins sit on slanted shelves for easier access so you want the mitered side shelf supports to mirror each other.

I left about 20" between the slanted shelves for easy access depositing recycling into the bins and getting the bins in and out.  The remaining storage shelves were equally spaced above.  Determine what your storage needs are and add as many or few shelves as you need.

Clay Skull Place Cards

We're getting ready for a sugar skull Halloween party so I came up with these clay skull place cards:

I'm sharing all the details over at Brittany's blog Pretty Handy Girl.  It's a easy craft even the kids could manage.  I attached the clay skulls to black goblets and after the party they become key fobs for their backpacks!

2 year service review: WORX 8 Amp Electric 14" Chainsaw

There are times when "You get what you pay for", doesn't hold water.
In the case of a 14"electric chainsaw by WORX, you get MORE.

Well into it's 2nd. year of hard service, getting this wood cutting powerhouse is money well spent. I had my doubts on a electric powered chainsaw, surely the motor & gearing can't possibly hold up to the

strain of cutting branches & logs, but after several good-sized tree-falls, and yards of firewood, the saw is just as sure & efficient as the day I pulled it out of the box.
My yard is full of trees. That means cutting up deadfalls, loping off branches, and harvesting firewood are common tasks. Over the years I've burned out two gas-engined chainsaws, each time cussing them for the aggravation of de-gumming clogged carburetors, despite keeping 2-cycle fuel fresh. Unless I was using the gas chainsaw daily, (which I wasn't) a year of use & storage was enough to turn a $100 investment into a crank pulling, blister-raising, pain in the butt. It got so I had to plan one whole day just getting the chainsaw running, to spend another full day using it.
When the second gas chainsaw finally bit the dust, I had had it. Worse, I had a big Bradford Pear decide to split in half on me leaving me a backyard FULL of fallen timber to cut up. I needed a chainsaw, & needed it right NOW!
So that's when I decided to take a chance on this WORX 14" Electric Chain Saw. I figured at half the price of a gas chainsaw, even if I only got a year's use out of it, at least I'm not out all the aggravation AND cost of a gas powered saw. Besides, with most of the work I needed to do... small branches with some thicker timber up to 20" thick... I figured I could knock out the small stuff, and if the saw puked on the bigger stuff, at least most of the cutting got done pretty cheap.

But surprisingly, that was TWO YEARS & more than three TREES AGO!

The WORX 14" saw is just as powerful, just as sharp, just as instant-on reliable as it was when I brought it home. No mixing gas, no priming, no choke, no yanking on a starter rope over & over & over. Lay out an extension cord, plug in & GO.

The WORX has an easy chain adjustment too. A twist of a knob snugs up the chain to proper tension, and just a top off of chain lube is all that's necessary for a full day of cutting.

It may seem like the saw takes a shade longer to cut through heavy work compared to a gas chainsaw, (but perhaps it was just the summer heat), but it certainly doesn't beat you up like a gas saw will. The motor is far quieter, the lighter weight of the saw is far less strain on your arms & back. I was totally surprised with the saw's cutting performance.
If your needs for a chainsaw is for light to medium yard work, mostly small diameter branches with the occasional larger log, the WORX 14" saw will do you very well, better than what you'd expect. Although tied to a electric power source via a plug in cord, you can kiss bye-bye all the starter rope pulling, spark plug fowling, gas mixture mess & smoky engine exhaust & ear ringing noise of a gas powered saw.
This has turned out to be one of my SMARTER investments.

Complete Water Analysis Test Kit / APN Product Review

It's not often when worry is put to rest, especially when it comes from playing in water.

A prime reason I chose my home was because it had a Water Well, a key item in maintaining independence from outside resource. Without need of a municipal water supply, I can live on my property without worry of  water suddenly not being available. I only then need to worry about it being drinkable.

That's why I took on the task of doing a review of Test Assured's Complete Water Analysis Test Kit with enthusiasm.  I knew I had good tasting well water at my taps, but all the same, I wanted to know chemically how well my well water really was. (Say that 5 times fast.) Most importantly, I wanted to put to rest worries that there could be something in it that could potentially make me sick.

If you can follow directions how to mix cake batter, you can do all of the tests without messy eggs, butter, milk & stuff. It's simply fill a vial, dip in a test strip & compare colors from a chart. If I can do it, you can too.

The Complete Water Analysis Test Kit  is 10 tests in one.  Ten of the most common contaminants you need to be concerned about if you intend to use water to drink, cook or bathe.

Alkalinity: Water with low alkalinity can be corrosive and irritate eyes. Water with high alkalinity has a soda-like taste, dries out skin and causes scaling on fixtures and plumbing.

Hardness: The amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water. Hard water is high in dissolved minerals. When using hard water, more soap or detergent is needed to get things clean, be it your hands, hair, or your laundry.
pH: An index of the amount of hydrogen ions (H-) in the water. When water has a pH that is too low, it can lead to corrosion and pitting of pipes in plumbing and distribution systems.
Chlorine: A highly efficient disinfectant added to public water supplies to kill disease-causing pathogens. But too much of a good thing is not necessarily good. Too much can burn & kill.
Copper: Reddish metal that occurs naturally in rock, soil, water, sediment, and air. New copper pipes leech copper into water which can be harmful for babies. Older pipes not so much, because of the natural patina that develops on the metal surface.
Iron: Water high in iron may taste metallic, be discolored and appear brownish, Iron leaves red or orange rust stains in the sink, toilet, bathtub or shower.

Nitrates & Nitrites: Naturally occurring chemicals made of nitrogen and oxygen. The primary health hazard occurs when nitrate is transformed to nitrite in the digestive system. The nitrite oxidizes the iron in red blood cells to form methemoglobin, which lacks the oxygen-carrying ability of hemoglobin. Too much nitrate & nitrites in drinking water can cause serious health problems for young infants.

Lead: If you don't already know how dangerous consuming lead is, go back to eating your paint chips. Lead poisoning is a real concern with older homes with leaded plumbing.

Pesticides: Commonly caused by ground water contamination. Just where do you think the bug spray your neighbor uses winds up?

Bacteria: The most worrisome fear,  pathogens in your water that can make you REALLY sick. This test requires 48 hours for results.

The testing was easy to do. The kit is packaged well & clear in it's instructions. It makes me wonder if this is EXACTLY what is used by "Professional Water Testers" who charge $$$ for the convenience.

Is it worth it? 

The results largely confirmed what I already knew... I have safe, clean well water.

Test results showed that my water is clear of Chlorine, Iron, Nitrates, Nitrites, Copper, Pesticides or Lead. Further, (and most importantly), my water is Bacteria Free.

The test kit did show that Alkalinity is right in the target range for drinking water at 80 to 120 ppm. (parts per million). Hardness, in the moderate to hard side, with approximately 100 to 200 ppm. And the pH right in the ideal range of 6.5 to 8, (7 being neutral).

The bottom line... A water softener could be a smart purchase, otherwise I should fill a tall glass & toast myself for having good water coming from my well.

I highly recommend this test kit. Get several, since each kit is single use. It's a smart idea to test your drinking water after large weather events occur which can effect your regional water supply. Pack along some kits when you travel, and you need to be sure the water that's available is safe.

I suppose I could get an independent lab do the same tests for comparative results. But unless folks buy a kit or two from this AMAZON LINK, I don't see shelling out the $$$ for that. However, just by testing regularly once a year, I can determine any changes that may occur. The kit makes doing that very affordable. (Way cheaper than hiring it done)

Krásné úterý!

V dnešním článku bych vám ráda představila produkt, který se v poslední době stal nedílnou součástí mé večerní rutiny, co se týče péče o pleť. Už je tomu několik měsíců, co mě oslovila společnost Vivantis s nabídkou spolupráce. To mě zaujalo především proto, protože mi k ozkoušení nabídli něco, o čem jsem do té doby ještě neslyšela. 

Jedná se o marulový olej od značky Sefiros. Jak už je vám asi z názvu jasné, jde o olej, který lze použít nejenom na pleť, ale také jako masážní olej, do vlasů nebo na okolí nehtů. To je u mě už první  velké plus, jelikož jsem obrovským zastáncem multifunkčních produktů. 

Co se týče složení, hlavní složka je získávána z tzv. sloního stromu. Dále v něm najdeme také vitamíny a mononenasycené kyseliny. Lahvička obsahuje 30ml.

Musím říct, že ze začátku jsem se aplikace bála, Především toho, že budu po nanesení mít pleť mastnou, anebo že budu muset čekat hodinu, než se olej alespoň z části vstřebá. Byla jsem ale  mile překvapená, jelikož se díky pipetce dá nanést přiměřené množství (stačí kapička na obě tváře, čelo a bradu) a v klidu si s tím vystačíte na celý obličej. Takto malé množství se opravdu vstřebá do 10 sekund a já si jej tak nemůžu vynachválit. 

  

Nanáším jej každý večer před spaním a určitě zvažuji koupi dalšího balení. Pleť je po něm krásně hydratovaná, jemná a zvláčněná. Jestli zaujal i vás tak jako mě, můžete si ho pořídit TADY za 349 Kč, což sice není málo, ovšem já olej používám již přibližně 4 měsíce a stále se neblížím ani do poloviny :)

Alpha Bravo Creations: Tactical Hand Signals & Phonetic Alphabet Flash Cards

I'm to review Flashcards teaching Army Hand signals & the Phonetic Alphabet?

When I received this assignment, I was skeptical. Certainly, communications modes are a specialty I'm familiar with, but I'm no Platoon Leader, and my days of playing Army Man is a bit behind me. Besides, this is a review of kids flashcards, my last dealing with was in learning math in grade school.
But I was surprised when I examined the deck of cards of the Phonetic Alphabet, I immediately got the concept & it's potential. Then, when I tried out the deck of Army Hand signals & American Sign Language, it struck me that these flashcards are invaluable for not just kids, but for adults too.

Communication in it's purest sense is simply transferring information from one place to another by any means necessary, either verbally, or non-verbally. So while from the standpoint of preparedness, the ability to convey information clearly & accurately is paramount, the ability to also do so silently can be vital.
So here's where these flashcards come in handy, (pardon the pun).
Use of hand signals offers clear communication totally unspoken, as any misbehaving youngster frozen in mid-frolic by Mom & Dad pointing at them sternly can attest. Message CLEARLY conveyed.

Each flashcard offers a term or statement with an illustration of it's accompanying hand gesture. There's also directions on how to do the gesture.  By learning to recognize the gestures and connect it to the word or statement, standard terms & gestures can be strung together to make whole sentences or concepts. By repetition of using these cards anyone can become proficient in using hand signals.
Like I said... very handy.
It didn't take long at all for this old dog to learn some new tricks, not long at all.
Hand gestures can be very useful...(bet you thought I'd say HANDY again), if ever I'd be in a situation where I NEED to communicate without speaking a word. Serious stuff, like  HURRY! THIS WAY to the RALLY POINT.
While Alpha Bravo's Hand Signals for Kids helps kids add realism to their playacting, what you can learn from them can be a vital aid for anyone in a disaster to emergency.

Next came the deck of flashcards teaching the Phonetic Alphabet.
If you've ever seen a Cop show on TV or a Hollywood Blockbuster War Movie, someone is always talking over a microphone saying stuff like"Foxtrot Uniform Bravo Alpha Romeo"...or some sort of drivel. It's not heatstroke that's got the actor talking gibberish, it's a PHONETIC ALPHABET used to verbalize individual letters, using spoken words. Tango is the letter "T", India the letter "I", Charlie the letter "C", and so on. Using phonetics is handy when noise conditions make it hard to discern single letters. Sounds like "Eee" & "Tee" &"Cee" can often be misheard in a noisy location. So by attributing a word starting with the letter, it's easier to understand because you're more likely to hear parts of a word and mentally fill in the blanks.
With the Phonetic Alphabet Flashcards,  Alpha Delta Creations has presented each letter with a picture symbol, depicting the word, as well as it's corresponding Morse Code symbol.

HUH! What? Morse Code? Hams do Morse code! Heck, even Rambo tapped out Morse code to send a message in one of his movies! Morse Code is HANDY!

While not a requirement any longer to know Morse Code, it's still a widely popular mode of communication in Ham Radio, the dots & dashes all to be heard & deciphered when signal conditions are so poor that vocal speech is "in the mud" & unrecognizable.
I know very well the phonetic alphabet, but I never acquired Morse Code. So now, armed with a set of flash cards depicting them, I bet picking up the code could be just as easy as picking up these cards. Or better yet, it'll be CHILD'S PLAY.

My review started out skeptical, but I quickly came around. I seriously suggest getting your kids these flashcards & using them yourself. Who says kids get to do all the fun? In fact, make learning how to do Tactical Hand Signaling AND the Phonetic Alphabet & Morse Code a family fun project. One that may pay SERIOUS dividends later.
(I almost forgot... did anybody catch the reference of "Foxtrot, Uniform, Bravo, Alpha, Romeo"? Learn the Phonetic Alphabet & watch Saving Private Ryan again till you do. )

grunge

Hurááá! Po tisící letech opět přináším nový outfit post. Vím, že už nebyl mega moc dlouho, ale ted se to snažím napravit, tak doufám, že mi to odpustíte. Můžu se vymlouvat na státnice, psaní diplomky nebo na překlad knihy, kterému jsem v poslední době věnovala veškerý můj volný čas. Ale asi spíš řeknu (čti: napíšu), že jsem na to v poslední době "prděla". Na YouTube jsem sice dost aktivní, ale blog jsem nechávala nějak stranou a moc se mu nevěnovala. A toho si všímám i u ostatních blogerek. Taky registrujete, že videa jdou mnohem více do popředí a psané blogy zůstávají daleko za nimi? Co více baví vás? :)

K outfitu bych řekla, že stoprocentně vystihuje můj vkus a styl za poslední dobu. Barvám se tak trochu vyhýbám a jedu si spíš na takové tlumenější vlně. To se ale určitě s příchodem jar/léta zlepší. Prozatím ale preferuju zemité barvy s jediným výrazným prvkem (většinou v podobě kabelky nebo bot) :)

Cheap outfits

Ahoj :)

v dnešním článku jsem se rozhodla ukázat vám pár mých oblíbených outfitů, které se skládají především z kousků z druhé ruky. Určitě jste již postřehli, že nakupováním v sekáčích je pro mě hodně velkou a oblíbenou zábavou, a proto jsem při sestavování těchto outfitů měla docela na výběr. Častokrát se mi totiž poštěstilo a ulovila jsem skvělé kousky za pár "kaček". 

1) První outfit je celkem jednoduchý, a přesto, podle mě, není nudný. Obzvláštňují jej především černé skorts (skirt+shorts), které zepředu vypadají jako sukně, ovšem jedná se o pohodlné kraťasy.  Ty jsem ulovila v sekáči za 45 Kč (původem z Topshopu), no a doplňující halenka za 10 Kč taky nebyla velkou investicí.

2) Druhý outift si umím představit jak s teniskami, tak s botami na vysokém podpatku. Zkombinovala jsem modré kalhoty pánského střihu, které jsem hledala už léta. No nedávno se mi v sekáči konečně poštěstilo a ulovila jsem je tam za 20 Kč. Crop top mě v H&M ve slevách vyšel na 70 Kč. Sáčko je původem značky Hallhuber, což je německá značka (srovnatelné např. s Mangem) a podobná sáčka tam vyjdou na cca 2000 Kč. No já ho mám ze sekáče za 50 Kč a nemůžu si ho vynachválit.

3) Třetí outfit je trochu ležérnější, a co se týče bot, nejlépe by k němu pasovaly bílé conversky. Skládá se z černé volné sukně, kteoru mám opět ze sekáče za 50 Kč, dále z obyčejného ombre trička s nápisem ze Sinsay a z džínové vesty, která mi po pár stezích perfektně sedí. Navíc jsem ji sehnala na Slovensku v sekáči za 30 centů (= cca 9 Kč).

4) Čtvrtá outfit je trochu barevněšjí, ale s přicházejícím jarem mi to vůbec nepřekáží. Hlavním prvkem je červené výrazně oversize sako se zlatými knoflíky, které mě v sekáči vyšlo na 40 Kč. Dale jsem k němu zkombinovala modré staenové kalhoty se vzorem, opět pánského střihu (Elizabeth and James), které se sice původně cenově pohybují okolo 10.000 Kč, no já je mám ze sekáč a nedala jsem za ně více než 60 Kč. 

5) No a poslední outfit je ze všech nejdražší (to ale berte s rezervou, protože mě vyšel na něco málo přes 300 Kč). Hlavním prvkem je delší kožešinová vesta ze sekáče, kterou naprosto miluju. A ještě o to víc, že mě vyšla na 150 Kč. K ní jsem zvolila kontrastní roztrhané boyfriend jeany a obyčejný béžový rolák.

 

Myslím si tedy, že se dá pěkně obléci i za pár korun a tento post je toho důkazem.

Fitness rutina s 3D CHILI

Dneska jsem se rozhodla přispět článkem, kterým (snad) uspokojím vaše časté dotazy. Často se mě totiž ptáte na mou postavu a na to, jak si ji udržuji. Proto jsem se rozhodla sepsat vše do jednoho článku a zodpovědět tak všechny vaše dotazy.

Na začátek bych ráda řekla, že nejvděčnější můžu být asi svým genům, jelikož jsem nikdy s postavu žádné výraznější problémy neměla. Ovšem i tak je pro mě důležité si postavu udržovat a hlídat se. Mým snad největším pomocníkem je doplněk stravy s názvem 3D Chili, který je již delší dobu mým tajným společníkem.  

Jedná se tedy o přípravek podporující hubnutí. Musím se přiznat, že jsem vždycky byla k těmto "hubnoucím tabletkám" dost skeptická. No 3D Chili dlužím omluvu, protože mu v poslední době posloužily opravdu víc než dobře. Ale vezměme to od začátku. 

Jedno balení obsahuje 90 tobolek, přičemž se užívají 3 denně. Jedna krabička vám tedy při pravidelném užívání vydrží měsíc. Určitě jste si všimli, že tobolky jsou hned ve 3 barvách a to má svůj důvod. Každá má totiž jiné složení, a tak slouží k něčemu jiném. Stejně jako existují 3 fáze dne, stejně tak se přizpůsobily i tobolky 3D Chili. Tělo totiž pracuje v každé části dne úplně jinak, proto je potřeba dopomoct mu ke správné funkci i 3 různými tobolkami. 

Ráno jsem si vždy vzala tobolku žlutou, která obsahuje zázvor, který napomáhá správnému trávení a fungování trávícího traktu. Musím říct, že tuto funkci jsem po ránu mileráda přivítala, jelikož snídaně je mým nejoblíbenějším chodem a u něj se zkrátka omezit nedokážu. Proto jsem si mohla dovolit dát si k snídani i "půl vola", a i přesto jsem se pak celý den necítila těžce a nafoukle. Navíc žlutá tabletka také zpomaluje absorpci sacharidů a tuků. Další složkou, která je ve žluté tobolce obsažena, a která příznivě obsahují náš trávicí systém je mimo zázvor i kurkuma nebo bílá fazole. 

Odpoledne jsem vždy sáhla po červené tobolce s obsahem kaspaicinu pocházejícího z chilli papriček (nebojte, pusa vám přitom neshoří!).  Ta pro změnu slouží jako přírodní spalovač tukové tkáně, a tak snižuje hmotnost těla. Zrychluje také metabolismus a dodává tělu energii

No a na večer nám zbývá tobolka zelená.  Ta má vliv především na fungování žlučníku, jater a ledvin, což jsou orgány zodpovědné za detoxikaci organismu. Opět se ale jedná o čistě přírodní detoxikaci, neboli očistu organismu, jelikož v tobolce nenajdeme nic jiného než zelený čaj, chlorellu a bobule acai. Tobolka zároveň slouží také jako zdroj antioxidantů.  

Myslím si, že na tom není nic složitého. V podstatě jde o správné rozvrhnutí přírodní složek, především koření, do celého dne. A přírodní složky také byly ty, které mě "donutily" tobolky vyzkoušet. Jedná se totiž o složky, které jsou zcela bezpečné a vědecky ověřené jako vhodné k hubnutí. Stačí si správně zkorigovat životní styl, nepřejídat se, ovšem nehladovět, sem tam se hýbat a 3D Chili v podstatě udělají velkou část za vás. 

Musím říct, že užívání ani v nejmenším nelituji. Nepocítila jsem žádné vedlejší účinky (z čehož jsem měla obavy), ale právě naopak jsem se po celou dobu užívání cítila tak nějak lehce, nenafoukle a málokdy se mi stalo, že jsem měla celý den těžký žaludek, když jsem si k snídani dopřála trošku více.

Review for Redmi Note 2 (AP - Grey market set ) - Based on my own perspective.

Redmi Note 2 - the shortest life span of it's kind since release.

A smartphone that powered by Mediatek Helio X10 Processors, can be defined as flagship range of smartphone, ( If compare to brand such as HTC), with the price that cost you only RM539 (AP- grey market ) or RM649 (Mi Malaysia), definitely a big point to consider in your wishlist.

Let's talk a bout the specs here:

- Mediatek MT6795 Helio X10 Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 

- 2GB ram

- 16GB internal storage with micro sd expansion up to 128GB

- 3060mah battery

- 13MP rear camera with PDAF sensor , 5MP front camera

- Dual sim supports 4G LTE

Network - bandwidth

Lots of people concern about the AP (china variant 移动版）and Mi Malaysia official variant or so called global variant might have different bandwidth support such as TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE.

Obviously both variants are actually support Malaysia LTE network but without any official clarification.

(Maybe the same at all? who knows...)

According to my experiment, i'm using AP variant and it is fully capable of support LTE for my Celcom and Digi.

Now it's time to discuss about my experience with Redmi note 2 AP set

First of all, well, the device of course run smoothly without any hiccup even i play high graphic gaming like call of duty. It's a huge improvement since the original release. So far i have yet to face any force close. Google play-store is compatible to install without any tweak to the phone.

Battery Life

Battery consumption, what i can comment is SO-SO. Definitely not the best battery-saver smartphone out there but not really battery killing after-all. It can last about a day for you in lite-normal usage, but for heavy user like gaming all the way, you still have to carry your beloved powerbank to support you for all day long. 

Update: this is the result after i tested for few days. Basically will have 4 hours of Screen on Time, with 17 hours of usage, and battery left about 20% which can hold you for couple of hours remaining.

Potential issue will cause battery drain: I have found that Micloud sync will drain your battery even your phone in idle mode. Once i disable sync for micloud, i have yet face any battery drain issue.

Overheat

So far i have yet to face any overheat issue even-though i use gps and gaming quite often. Perhaps new update fixed it, cannot be sure about this since i'm not developer.

Comes to screen discussion, Xiaomi panel actually have quite decent quality.

Due to display panel supplied by different manufacturer, you might get a warmer or cold screen.

I like cold screen personally because white looks like white and warmer display will shows yellowish. Users don't have to worry about this since you can tune the display to colder or warmer as your preference 

i have cold-color panel for AP set and Mi Malaysia set i get a warmer one but not too yellowish :)

Speakers

Speaker for call quality, it actually not bad at all, even better than one plus one..LOL and for LOUDSPEAKER, it's not the loudest and finest out there but quality is quite decent and clear. Consider loud as well but not that loud you can hear in noisy environment.

Warranty

You will get warranty from Official Xiaomi Malaysia if you purchase the official set. And, for AP set, you'll get warranty provided by the seller. Mi Malaysia service center will not warranty for AP set.

AP set- means that device imported from grey market seller, warranty will only provided by seller or technically known as no warranty unless you bring the device to the country itself.

LAST but not least

THE PRICE!!!! Well, if you're expecting to have flagship feel of exterior design, then don't think for it..Go for SAMSUNG NOTE 5. But, if you're looking for value for money, i can tell you Redmi note 2 is definitely worth it since Mi3 release in Malaysia. 

Comparison

People starts compare between redmi note 2 and redmi note 3. What's the different?

Well, you might pay extra RM150 from redmi note 2 AP to redmi note 3 AP.

You will get fingerprint sensor!!!! but at the back =.=lll

You will have 4000mah battery!!!!!  this is really good for those heavy users.

You will have a iphone-premium-look since redmi note 3 is a unibody aluminium design, i like it alot!!!!! but.....sealed battery and no sd slot expansion.....

and the rest.....same as redmi note 2.

Other model? Well, for device that powered by helio x10 processors with such price tag...erm, this the best.

And what else???
